Default My take on physician recruitment

Hi all,

As a physician recruiter, and been in this business for the past four years, I find my tried and tested tool of networking the best source for finding the right candidates for my clients. I do this networking through face-to-face communication, as well as by continuous dialog an dinteraction with physicians on job boards and forums such as this.

In fact, the internet is a heaven-send for people in my profession.

Hello Mike,

I have always been wary of approaching, or be approached by, physician recruiters or medical human resources agencies, for the simple reason that I don't want my C.V. to reach places where they shouldn't be reaching.

How do you guarantee that? Or, put another way, how do medical recruitment people manage confidentiality?

Sue

Hello Sue,

Well, there is a code of Ethics that a recruiting agency is required to follow. When you or any physician approaches us for placement, we ask them for their authorization for distributing their C.V.s. We ask for specific permission for specific jobs and pencil the specific jobs you are interested in, on your C.V., before giving it to fellow recrutiers.

Rest assured, it is a foolproof arrangement! Guaranteed confidentiality.

Mike

Adding to Mike's post, physician placements are possible with watertight confidentiality through job boards such as http://www.physiciancrossroads.com too.

Default Making the transition

How would one best make the transition from working at a long term permanent job to becoming a locum?

Default Locum Transition

The best way to transition from a permanent job to a locum is to find a very good, experienced locum recruiter. There are a few of them on-line under "locum physician recruiters". There is no fee for a physician to work with a locum recruiter and get a placement for 1 day or 1 year. Usually, travel, lodging, mal-practice insurance and per diem are provided by the client. Locums work is perfect for someone who is interested in traveling and meeting medical staff which may offer new methods of working together.

Default One more question

Is it possible to try out a few temporary positions while keeping your full time job?

Julie,
Absolutely you can do so. A lot depends upon how much free time you have, what your specialty is as well as how far are you willing to travel from your home base to work.
