Dr. Robert M. Clemens, MD, MBA, PhD

Dr. Clemens began his practice at a hospital in which he was the only Anesthesiologist, along with 4 CRNA's, and was required to do his own billing. During these early years, he obtained a Master of Business Administration degree and a PhD in marketing along with his medical degree. Having combined medical and business expertise, he was ideally equipped to set up a successful billing system.

A Radiologist colleague asked Dr. Clemens if he would do the billing for his practice also and the fledgling billing system he began quickly grew into Medical Billing Associates, Inc (MBA), when he partnered with Stewart Ferguson who held his degree in Accounting and Business Administration.

MBA expanded their services to include billing for Pathology and Emergency Room Physician services.

The combination of over 15 years of clinical expertise and a business/marketing background laid a solid foundation for Dr. Clemens to add anesthesia consulting to his services. His medical practice experience and credentials created a unique ability to speak directly with insurance company Medical Directors, improving reimbursements, especially in Anesthesia, which has one of the highest Medicare denial rates.

Today, MBA offers a full and diverse range of services to their clients, including Full Services Practice Management, Employment Strategies, Compliance Education, Third Party Payer Contracting and Business Development and Strategic Planning, among others.
